Rich Johnson is the Founder and CEO of Genotope, a bespoke consultancy delivering integrated data solutions for the life sciences industry.
Rich began his career in molecular biology research at the Salk Institute and UCSF before spending more than 25 years in commercial roles across biopharma — inside data consultancies, molecular biology platforms, and global CROs supporting all phases of drug development.
That vantage point revealed a consistent gap: smaller companies often lack the resources to structure and analyze the large datasets modern experiments generate, while bioinformatics teams at larger organizations face fluctuating demand for specialized skills that are hard to staff permanently. In both cases, extracting meaningful insight requires a bespoke approach grounded in an understanding of the science driving the work.
Genotope was founded to meet that need — providing life sciences teams with the specialized bioinformatics and data science expertise to extract meaningful insight from complex experimental data, without the constraints of hiring specialized headcount or scaling an internal team to meet fluctuating demand.
